Description
On the left bank of the Cady, on the outskirts of the greenery of the Charles Trent park you will see attractive buildings dating of the Belle Epoque. The casino was designed by Petersen, an architect pupil of Charles Garnier. The 'Kipling Path’ is part of local heritage, following the path you will be informed of the creation of spa towns. A second path leads to the Winter Garden and recalls the novella that Kipling wrote here "Why snow falls at Vernet". On the left bank of the Cady you can explore the beautiful "Charles Trenet" Park and its surroundings. Here you will see several fine buildings dating from the "Belle Epoque". These include the grand and handsome Casino. This is the work of the Danish architect Petersen, a student of Garnier. A short, self-guided heritage trail, the "Chemin Kipling", leads you around this fascinating part of the town. Its information boards describe the history of Vernet's hot-water spa. A similar trail takes you up into the Winter Garden. It introduces you to Kipling's charming short story, "Why Snow Falls at Vernet". Guided tours, starting from the tourist office, are organised in the holiday season.Accueil des groupes
